Delicate.
Deliberate.
Lasting.
Fine line tattooing is the art of restraint, achieving maximum impact with minimum weight. Botanical details, geometric forms, and considered lettering rendered in needle-thin lines that age gracefully with your skin.
The discipline
Linework that thinks before it speaks.
The thinner the line, the steadier the hand must be. There is no correction in fine line — only commitment.
Fine line tattooing demands more precision than any other style. There is nowhere to hide — every line is exposed, every curve deliberate. Shawn approaches each piece as a draughtsman would: proportion studied, placement considered, nothing committed to skin that hasn't been earned on paper first.
Scripts carry the additional weight of language. Whether it's a single word or a full phrase, the typography must serve the meaning — letterform chosen for character, spacing refined for balance, placement chosen so the piece reads as part of the body rather than against it.

Questions
Common
questions.
Fine line typically involves less trauma to the skin than bold or shading styles because the needle passes through fewer times. Most clients describe it as more comfortable than expected. Placement matters more than style — bony areas are always more sensitive.
All tattoos fade to some degree. Fine line work done correctly — with the right needle depth and proper aftercare — will hold beautifully for years. Shawn designs with longevity in mind, avoiding lines so thin they won't hold. Sun protection after healing significantly extends the life of the work.
Yes — from delicate cursive to architectural sans-serif. Shawn will advise on which letterforms hold best at your desired scale. Very small scripts require careful consideration of spacing to remain legible as the skin moves.
Arrive well hydrated and having eaten. Avoid alcohol for 24 hours before. Wear or bring clothing that allows easy access to the placement area. The skin should be moisturised in the days before — not on the day itself.
Surface healing typically takes 2–3 weeks. Complete skin healing is 3–4 months. The tattoo may look slightly faded or cloudy during the first month — this is normal. The true result reveals itself once the skin has fully regenerated.
